| Is Cape Elizabeth Farm Friendly?? Continued.... If there were ever a time for all of us to let our collective voices be heard to preserve the rural character of Cape Elizabeth it is now. The map below is provided to illustrate most of the RB Zone in Cape Elizabeth, agricultural land in the RB Zone and portions of the RB Zone that are completely "built out". Cape Elizabeth residents value open land, a rural feel, preserving farmland and varied ecosystems and do not favor any encouragement of dense development. Let's make sure our ordinance reflects the ethos of our Comprehensive Plan. Contact your town councilors and urge them to restrict dense growth in the RB Zone. Click the link. |

| Open Letter to Town Council and Planning Board "It is my opinion and the view of many other Cape residents that the Land Use chapter of the Comprehensive Plan turned the survey (of residence) on its head and achieved the opposite result of what citizens asked for in their survey responses. The residents spoke loudly and clearly: they value open land, a rural feel, preserving farmland and varied ecosystems and do not favor any encouragement of dense development. And so the consternation that came about when the committee finished its work is understandable: the Land Use chapter sets forth various measures to encourage exactly what the residents find undesirable. Layered upon this is the meltdown in the confidence in real estate as a sound investment so historic that economists predict there will never be a return to the previous pace of building in this country, or indeed the world over. As such, I strongly urge you to stop any further work on ordinance changes and take the time to consider review and revision of the relevant language in the current Comprehensive Plan."
