| What's Fresh? At Alewives Brook Farm 83 Old Ocean House Road, Cape Elizabeth The New Year is here and soon the new planting season will be upon us. Just because we are unable to be out in the fields, certainly does not slow down a farmer's day. The first seed catalogs have begun to arrive, which means it's time to start planning for the spring. Our ducks, Benny, Molly, and Seaya, are faring well in the winter weather. The cold days have not slowed down our young chickens, laying upwards of three dozen eggs a day. Each spring we raise a new generation of chickens so that we have egg layers year round. This past spring we doubled our flock and dramatically increased our egg production. Farm fresh eggs are never in short supply at Alewives. We're selling them for $4.00 a dozen. In addition to our abundance of fresh eggs we have potatoes, carrots, and beets, stored in the root cellar for the winter. Even with the temperatures in the teens, Jodie and Tucker still head out on the water to bring home fresh lobster. And if you didn't get your fill of turkey during the holidays, we still have a few frozen farm fresh birds on hand. We're open seven days a week, 364 days a year, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please stop by and visit us. Or check us out online at, www.alewivesbrookfarm.com. ; Please continue to help support your local farmers. Even in the winter months, we're still here for you. |
