                                  Permaculture for Local Resilience
“How Our Communities Can Turn Challenges into Opportunities”
Sponsored by Cool Cape and the
Cape Farm Alliance, March 8.
Local permaculture designer, teacher and organizer
Lisa Fernandes will be giving a talk and slide show on
Permaculture and how it can address the challenges of economic upheaval, climate change and peak oil.
Permaculture is a set of skills and an approach to land use based on ecological principles; it seeks to build
resilience and create a positive and abundant future with far fewer fossil fuel inputs. It covers not only how we
grow food but also our systems of energy, shelter, water, transport, technology and community organization.

Lisa's thesis is that Cape Elizabeth is very well positioned to weather the challenges ahead in terms of its talented,
creative citizens, its natural resource base and a foundation of activity in town that is already moving us toward a
resilient future.
Come at 6:30 pm for refreshments; the discussion and slide show will begin at 7 pm. This
event is
free of charge and open to all; United Methodist Church, 280 Ocean House Rd., Cape Elizabeth.
